Abacus Semiconductor Welcomes Dr. Kevin Camera to Executive Team

Abacus Semiconductor has announced the addition of Dr. Kevin Camera to its executive management team. Dr. Camera, a seasoned technical executive, brings two decades of expertise in hardware/software engineering and product development across multiple disruptive technologies. His notable career includes roles such as Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of Engineering at BEEcube, where he contributed to pioneering advancements in 5G wireless telecommunications. Following the acquisition of BEEcube by National Instruments, Dr. Camera led firmware and software engineering at Velodyne Lidar, eventually becoming Vice President of Product. At Velodyne, he oversaw the development of 3D sensing products and AI-enabling applications that achieved global volume leadership.

Most recently, Dr. Camera served as Vice President of Product at Lumotive, where he managed software engineering and product strategy for revolutionary software-definable semiconductor metamaterial technology. His academic credentials include B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Camera emphasized the need for comprehensive and scalable solutions in today's market, stating, "Customers do not look for only a processor or an accelerator or a memory, even if performance and scale-out are an upgrade over existing technologies. Customers demand a complete and scalable solution to their computational challenges, and as such we have to deliver systems that integrate not only our hardware, but all the firmware, software and APIs necessary for customers to deploy both their existing and future applications."

Dr. Axel Kloth, Founder and CEO of Abacus Semiconductor, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition: "I am proud to have Kevin join the leadership team here at Abacus Semiconductor. His pedigree of shipping many disruptive semiconductor, hardware, and software products in volume will be a great asset as we disrupt the hyperscale AI infrastructure market."

Abacus Semiconductor is a leading developer of RISC-V based processors, accelerators, and smart multi-homed memories, focusing on the computational backbone for Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company's patent-pending beyond-Harvard computing architecture aims to solve the scalability challenges facing the rapidly growing AI infrastructure market.
