MedCognetics, Inc. and AKARUI Solutions LLP have deployed an AI mammography platform in mobile screening vans serving rural Indian communities under an Institutional Review Board agreement. This collaboration addresses India's critical shortage of breast imaging specialists, with fewer than 500 available for a population exceeding 1.35 billion people.
The deployment utilizes MedCognetics' FDA-cleared CogNet AI-MT® software, which provides real-time analysis of mammogram images even in areas without radiologists. The AI platform is specifically engineered for portable deployments and operates without requiring cloud connectivity, making it ideal for remote regions with limited infrastructure.
Debasish "Ron" Nag, CEO of MedCognetics, stated that the technology was created to impact lives globally, bringing critical early detection capabilities to regions historically lacking specialized care. The partnership represents a significant advancement in using AI as a force multiplier in resource-constrained environments.
AKARUI's software integration optimizes medical imaging processes, ensuring high-quality care and efficient operation. Suhas Pokale, CEO of AKARUI Solutions, emphasized that the collaboration enables delivery of enterprise-grade diagnostic power to India's most remote areas. The technology platform is designed for cost-effective, scalable deployments that can be upgraded as needed.
The CogNet AI-MT platform, part of MedCognetics' comprehensive CogNet AI™ system, employs advanced machine learning to detect early cancer signs across all ethnicities. Trained on diverse global datasets, the technology reduces bias in cancer detection and advances radiologists' performance capabilities. AKARUI Solutions, established in 2014 and headquartered in Mumbai, provides medical imaging equipment and healthcare IT solutions throughout India and South Asia.
This initiative supports MedCognetics' broader strategy to globalize equitable access to diagnostic imaging and reinforces the company's position as a pioneer in unbiased AI healthcare solutions. The deployment also aligns with AKARUI's upcoming regional product launch partnerships with global imaging equipment manufacturers.
