On February 7th, the company will donate all of its proceeds to MusiCares, an organization dedicated to supporting music professionals during times of crisis.
The initiative represents a significant collaborative effort, with Bandcamp joining forces with industry partners including A2IM, Harman, Lagunitas, Roland, Shure, Victrola, and WIN. This united approach aims to maximize support for musicians and music industry professionals who have been directly affected by the devastating wildfires.
Dan Melnick, Bandcamp's General Manager, emphasized the importance of supporting Los Angeles's music ecosystem, noting that the wildfires have impacted musicians, producers, and recording studios across the region. MusiCares will utilize the funds to provide critical resources such as financial aid, mental health counseling, medical screenings, and housing assistance. This initiative builds upon Bandcamp's history of supporting independent musicians, including its successful Bandcamp Fridays program, which has generated over $131 million for independent musicians and labels.
