Blue Lagoon Resources Inc. is approaching the final commissioning phase of its Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor water treatment system at the Dome Mountain Gold Project, with full activation expected within 7 to 10 days. This milestone represents the last requirement before the company can commence blasting operations and transition to active mining.
The MBBR system commissioning is critical for environmental compliance and operational readiness. Simultaneously, underground preparation work has begun this week, including establishing emergency egress points, testing approximately 10% of bolting as per the Ground Control Management Plan, re-establishing ventilation systems, and preparing magazine storage units for explosives. Additional activities involve clearing waste piles, cleaning underground sumps, and drilling at the rollover to establish the first exposed ore face.
President and CEO Rana Vig stated that the company is extremely close to beginning mining operations, with crews already underground preparing for the transition to production and near-term cash flow once the water treatment system becomes operational. The company expects to begin drilling and blasting immediately at both the rollover and incline areas once the MBBR system is commissioned.
To strengthen operational readiness, Blue Lagoon has added two key professionals to its team. Michael Kendall joins as Underground Mine Supervisor, bringing over three decades of hands-on underground mining experience from notable Canadian operations including Eskay Creek, Rice Lake, and Red Chris. His expertise in mine planning, development, and production management, combined with his recognition as a Mine Rescue Captain, will be instrumental as the project moves toward steady-state production.
The company has also appointed Dr. Francis Salifu as Environmental Manager, a seasoned professional with over 15 years of mining-sector environmental management experience. Dr. Salifu holds a PhD in Environmental Science and brings expertise in ML/ARD mitigation, water quality modeling, and biochemical reactor systems. His previous roles at Conuma Resources, PwC, and the Alberta Energy Regulator involved developing integrated environmental management programs that improved site compliance by more than 60%.
These appointments underscore Blue Lagoon's commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and efficient execution as the company prepares for mining operations. The Dome Mountain project represents one of only nine full mining permits issued in British Columbia since 2015, granted in February 2025, positioning the company to begin gold production targeting Q3 2025. The project's advancement is significant as Blue Lagoon works toward becoming a cash-flowing mining company, utilizing existing mining infrastructure and established mineral resources to deliver value to shareholders and local communities.
