A collaborative initiative between Charleston Animal Society, Joye Law Firm, and Adams Outdoor aims to provide free spay and neuter surgeries to help reduce animal homelessness and improve pet health in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina.

The Charleston Paw Project is taking significant steps to address pet overpopulation by offering 150 free spay and neuter surgeries to local pet owners. This innovative program, supported by a partnership between Charleston Animal Society, Joye Law Firm, and Adams Outdoor, seeks to provide critical veterinary care to animals in need while promoting responsible pet ownership.
With more than 300 individuals expressing interest within the first five days of the campaign, the demand for accessible veterinary services is evident. The project will select winners in three separate waves on May 20, August 26, and October 21, with each recipient receiving a spay/neuter certificate and a one-year rabies vaccine at Charleston Animal Society's specialized clinic.
Charleston Animal Society Vice President Aldwin Roman emphasized the broader impact of these surgeries, noting that preventing future unwanted litters can save thousands of animal lives. The organization, which has been advocating for animal welfare for 150 years, remains committed to ending unnecessary euthanasia and providing critical care for animals.
The collaborative effort goes beyond simply performing surgeries. By making these procedures accessible, the Charleston Paw Project addresses several critical issues in animal welfare, including reducing stray animal populations, decreasing the burden on local shelters, and improving individual pet health. Spaying and neutering can prevent numerous health complications and behavioral issues in animals.
Joye Law Firm's involvement demonstrates a commitment to community service, aligning with their recent recognition as the South Carolina Governor's Business Volunteer Group of the Year. Adams Outdoor's contribution of advertising and graphic design support further highlights the community-wide approach to this important initiative.
Pet owners interested in participating can enter the drawing by visiting CharlestonPawProject.com and completing an entry form with their contact and pet information. This program represents a proactive approach to animal welfare, offering a tangible solution to the complex challenges of pet population management.
