LOS ANGELES — Families from across Los Angeles gathered on July 4, 2026, at the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles' Stars and Stripes Summer Festival to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence. The event, held on L. Ron Hubbard Way, offered a day of carnival games, water slides, and summer activities that drew both regular attendees and first-time guests, including newcomers to the neighborhood and visitors from outside California.

The celebration reflects a broader trend of community festivals serving as gathering points for diverse populations. As the sun set, the festivities continued with a concert emceed by actor and comedian Jim Meskimen and actress Amrapali Ambegaokar. Meskimen performed a multi-voice rendition of "America the Beautiful," which drew enthusiastic applause. The concert featured a range of musical styles, including bluegrass by Korey Simeone and Patrick Rieger, soul and gospel by Prez Blackmon, and Latin music by Puerto Rican singer Luis Adrian.

The location, L. Ron Hubbard Way, was named after Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, whose humanitarian work has addressed illiteracy, drug abuse, and criminality. The street has become a hub for community celebrations and cultural festivals. This year's Stars and Stripes Summer Festival highlighted not only America's history but also the importance of community unity, providing a safe and welcoming environment for families to celebrate values of freedom and neighborly spirit.

The Church of Scientology of Los Angeles, located at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and L. Ron Hubbard Way, is featured in Inside a Church of Scientology on the Scientology Network, which was launched by Scientology ecclesiastical leader David Miscavige in 2018. As an Ideal Scientology Organization, the church serves as a community resource where people of all faiths can collaborate on initiatives benefiting the greater Los Angeles area.
