Collective Hospitality Pte Ltd, a leading hospitality owner and operator based in Singapore, has successfully acquired the majority of the business of Selina Hospitality PLC, a globally recognized lifestyle and experiential hospitality group. This acquisition, finalized on August 22, 2024, marks a significant milestone in Collective's strategic expansion, particularly within the lifestyle and experiential travel sectors.
The acquisition encompasses approximately 100 hotels in 22 countries, targeting the Gen Z and millennial markets. This move is poised to enhance Collective's global presence, adding properties across major cities in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia to its portfolio. The integration of Selina's distinctive ethos, loyalty program, and expansive network will enable Collective to better meet the evolving demands of younger travelers who seek authentic, community-driven experiences.
Gary Murray, CEO of Collective Hospitality, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Selina into the Collective Hospitality family. Selina's innovative approach to blending work, leisure, and culture aligns perfectly with our vision of creating memorable experiences for our millennial and Gen Z guests. This acquisition not only expands our portfolio of properties but also strengthens our commitment to redefining hospitality in the modern era."
The Selina properties will be integrated with Collective's other lifestyle social accommodation brands, including Slumber Party, Bodega Hostels, and Socialtel resorts. By leveraging the combined expertise and resources, Collective aims to introduce more innovative guest experiences, expand its global reach, and explore new opportunities in the lifestyle and experiential travel sectors. The company is focused on creating vibrant social experiences, non-stop adventures, and opportunities for guests to forge lasting connections.
The acquisition was facilitated by the appointment of Andrew Johnson, Samuel Ballinger, and Ali Khaki of FTI Consulting LLP as joint administrators of Selina PLC. On July 22, 2024, the Selina PLC board resolved to appoint these administrators, who subsequently managed the company's affairs and launched an accelerated sales process for its operating subsidiaries and certain other assets.
Newmark Group's Lodging Capital Markets team, based in New York, is advising Collective on the acquisition. The successful integration of Selina is expected to drive continued growth and create exceptional value for guests, employees, and stakeholders alike.
