Country music artist Hugh Phillips has taken a significant step in his musical journey by signing with String Kitchen Music/SSM Nashville Records and releasing his latest single, 'Bottom of the Bottle'. The Colorado native, who has been cultivating a unique 'Colorado Country' sound, brings a fresh perspective to the country music landscape.
Phillips, who has spent over a decade honing his songwriting skills in the Rocky Mountains, recently transitioned to Nashville to further develop his musical career. After releasing his debut single 'Boys That's a Cowgirl' last year, which garnered considerable success, he secured a record deal with SSM Nashville Records in late 2024.
The new single, 'Bottom of the Bottle', co-written with Nashville songwriter Dustin James, offers a distinctive take on the traditional break-up song. Instead of a typical melancholic narrative, the track presents a more upbeat approach to navigating relationship challenges. Phillips drew inspiration from his local experiences, incorporating elements from the Carbondale Mountain Fair into the song's opening lyrics.
With a musical style that blends country, western, and bluegrass elements, Phillips has been building a reputation through performances at various venues across Colorado. His multi-instrumental talents and storytelling approach set him apart in the competitive country music scene, offering audiences a genuine and dynamic musical experience.
The single will be available on streaming platforms on March 14th, with an accompanying music video expected to be released in early April. This release represents an important milestone for Phillips, signaling his continued growth and potential in the country music industry.
