Minneapolis residents in public housing will soon experience enhanced digital connectivity through a strategic partnership between the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) and Comcast. The collaboration aims to provide pre-installed Xfinity WiFi network access in multiple residential buildings, addressing critical technological needs for low-income communities.
The initiative will allow residents to connect to high-speed internet services quickly and effortlessly. Upon moving into a WiFi-ready unit, residents can activate internet access within five minutes by simply calling or using the Xfinity App, eliminating traditional barriers such as scheduling technician visits or purchasing equipment.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey emphasized the broader significance of this partnership, stating that connecting public housing to the internet represents more than technological advancement—it's about creating opportunities for residents. By providing accessible digital infrastructure, the initiative seeks to empower individuals with tools necessary for personal and professional growth.
