Concorde Career Colleges, the healthcare education division of Universal Technical Institute, Inc., has selected Atlanta's Lee + White development as the location for its first Georgia campus. The institution signed a 47,358-square-foot lease at Lee + White's 929 Building, with plans to open in 2027. This expansion represents a significant investment in healthcare education within a region experiencing ongoing demand for skilled professionals.
The Atlanta campus will serve up to 700 students at scale and offer programs in dental, nursing, diagnostic, patient care and allied health training. Kevin Prehn, President of Concorde Career Colleges, noted that Atlanta's vibrant economy, world-class healthcare and demand for skilled professionals make it an ideal location. The institution plans to forge partnerships with area hospital systems, clinics, dental practices and community health organizations.
Concorde's suites in the refurbished former warehouse space will be customized to provide a state-of-the-art learning environment while offering walkable access to Lee + White's extensive amenities. These include restaurants, retailers, a food hall and direct access to the Atlanta BeltLine via four entrances. The location is just half a mile from the West End MARTA rail station and convenient to metro Atlanta's interstates, with a planned MARTA station at Murphy Crossing to be a short walk away via the BeltLine.
Evan Ziegler, President of Ackerman Southeast, expressed pride in welcoming Concorde to Lee + White as it launches its first career campus in Georgia. Alongside the Ogle School, a cosmetology and beauty school that opened over the past year in the same building, Concorde will bring new educational opportunities for the West End community and residents across metro Atlanta. Jeff Small, CEO of MDH Partners, added that Concorde's presence complements the mix of uses that make the development a dynamic place to learn, work and connect.
The Lee + White development, which MDH Partners and Ackerman & Co. acquired in September 2019, has undergone significant transformation. Originally known for popular breweries, restaurants, a whiskey barrel house and climbing gym, the development has added a "Great Lawn" central gathering place, a 19-vendor food hall, and various businesses and service providers. The growing roster now includes high-tech companies Carbice and JTEC, which have established global headquarters and production operations at the development, while Grady Health has opened an outpatient center and Keller Williams is on track to open a new regional office in 2026.
This expansion matters because it addresses critical workforce needs in Georgia's healthcare sector while providing educational opportunities in an underserved area. The campus location at Lee + White, with its BeltLine access and proximity to public transportation, increases accessibility for students across the region. The development's transformation from industrial warehouses to a mixed-use community hub demonstrates how adaptive reuse projects can revitalize neighborhoods while supporting economic and educational growth.
