DATAGROUP Wins Dataport User Help Desk Contract in Public Sector Victory

DATAGROUP has been awarded the contract for Dataport AoR’s User Help Desk following a public bidding process, marking a significant expansion of its presence in the German public sector. The contract, valued in the double-digit millions, has a term of five years and includes managing up to 30,000 calls and up to 25,000 tickets per month as part of first-level support.

Dataport is one of the leading IT service providers for public administration in Germany, supporting several federal states and numerous municipalities in digitizing administrative services. The new partnership underscores the growing reliance on robust IT infrastructure to handle high volumes of inquiries while maintaining service quality. The procurement process emphasized the ability to scale flexibly, handle high inquiry volumes, and ensure consistently high service quality.

DATAGROUP impressed the procurement committee with a structured, practical, and robust solution concept, as well as an economically attractive bid. Key factors included a robust operational concept, the ability to reliably handle high volumes of requests, and proven experience in comparable projects. DATAGROUP’s long-standing expertise in the public sector and operation of complex service organizations were also decisive.

“The digitization of public administration requires high-performance IT structures and reliable background services. Going forward, Dataport and we will be united by the shared mission of reliably supporting digital workplaces and administrative processes for numerous users,” said Andreas Baresel, CEO of DATAGROUP. “The fact that we were able to prevail in this demanding procurement process confirms our expertise in the public sector and our experience in operating highly scalable service organizations.”

Andreas Reichel, Chief Technology Officer at Dataport, added, “For us, it was crucial to find a partner who could not only handle high service volumes but also ensure both service quality and support for our ongoing technological development. DATAGROUP impressed us with its experience in the public sector, its operational concept, and its clear focus on sustainable service quality.”

With this contract, DATAGROUP strengthens its position as a digitalization partner for the public sector, a market that demands reliable and scalable IT services. The partnership highlights the importance of high-performance service desks in enabling digital transformation for government agencies and public institutions. For the industry, this deal signals continued investment in outsourced IT support as public administrations seek to modernize without compromising service quality. The collaboration may also set a precedent for future public sector contracts, emphasizing the need for providers to demonstrate both operational excellence and sector-specific expertise.

DATAGROUP, which employs approximately 4,000 people across Germany and the Netherlands, has a history of organic growth and acquisitions. Its CORBOX product positions it as a full-service provider for IT workplaces. The company’s success in this bidding process reflects its “buy and turn around” and “buy and build” strategies, which have been noted for optimal integration of new companies.
