DownTown Mystic Releases 'The DownTown Demos' Album, Showcasing Creative Journey Behind 'AmeriKarma'

Sha-La Music Inc. has announced the upcoming release of 'The DownTown Demos: AmeriKarma Demos & Final Versions' by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic, set to hit streaming platforms worldwide on December 20, 2024, through The Orchard/Sony Music. This release comes on the heels of DownTown Mystic's career-defining album 'AmeriKarma', which garnered over 3 million streams in 2023 and achieved global radio success.

The new album, featuring 11 tracks, provides a unique glimpse into the creative process behind 'AmeriKarma'. It includes final versions of four core tracks from the original album - 'Live', 'Shadow Walk', 'Fly', and 'When The Angels Sing' - alongside their corresponding demos and three bonus tracks. Robert Allen, the writer and producer behind DownTown Mystic, shared the origins of these tracks, which began as experiments with beats for a sync project. "There were 4 tracks out of about 15 that I kept coming back to. I eventually heard the possibilities and began to create melodies and then write lyrics," Allen explained. This creative exploration ultimately led to the core songs of 'AmeriKarma'.

The release of 'The DownTown Demos' carries a deeply personal significance for Allen. The lead track 'Live' was written just 10 months before he was diagnosed with MDS, a pre-leukemia condition. Following a life-saving stem cell transplant in 2019, Allen found solace and motivation in his music during his recovery and the subsequent COVID-19 quarantine. "It's been a long, strange trip for sure and the one constant that kept me going was the music," Allen reflected.

This album release caps off a remarkable year for DownTown Mystic, which saw the launch of 'Rock'n'Roll 4 The Soul', its companion 'Acoustic Sessions' EP, and the 'Better Day' Digital 45. All these releases have charted on the NACC College Radio Charts, solidifying DownTown Mystic's position in the indie music scene.
