DTLA ArtNight, Downtown Los Angeles's monthly celebration of arts, culture, and community, has announced the largest expansion in its history with the addition of the Fashion District, effective Thursday, August 6, 2026. This move connects three major neighborhoods—Grand Avenue, the Historic Core, and the Fashion District—into a unified cultural experience, according to a press release from the organization.
The expansion marks a significant milestone for the event, which has grown since its inception into a platform that showcases the diversity and creativity of Downtown Los Angeles. Michael Angelo DeLance, President of DTLA ArtNight, emphasized the mission: 'DTLA ArtNight was created to activate Downtown Los Angeles and showcase everything that makes our city extraordinary. Our mission is to connect neighborhoods through arts and culture while inspiring people to discover the creativity, diversity, and energy that make DTLA unlike anywhere else. Expanding into the Fashion District is an exciting next step as we continue building one connected Downtown.'
The Fashion District, long known for fashion, design, and entrepreneurship, has evolved into a hub for galleries, artist studios, and creative businesses. New partners in the district include the Bendix Building, Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, CRE8, Mary at The STILE Hotel, and Zenith Gallery. These venues will open their doors to visitors, offering a glimpse into the creative process and finished works. Kelly O'Brien, founder of Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, noted, 'Joining DTLA ArtNight is an exciting opportunity to welcome visitors into our working studio and share both the creative process and the finished work. Experiences like DTLA ArtNight strengthen the Fashion District as a destination for art, fashion, and creativity.'
Mary at The STILE Hotel, located in the historic United Artists Building, is one of the district's newest hospitality destinations. A spokesperson for Mary said, 'Mary is honored to be part of DTLA ArtNight and to support the continued growth of the Fashion District. Whether guests stop in for coffee during the day or cocktails and live music in the evening, we look forward to welcoming the DTLA ArtNight community.'
In addition to the Fashion District expansion, the August edition will feature new Grand Avenue programming, including a special classical music collaboration between Grand Performances and The Colburn School at Spiral Court. The program, scheduled for Thursday, August 6 at 6:00 p.m., will explore connections across classical music eras and cultures, featuring works by Joseph Bologne, Johann Sebastian Bach, Reena Esmail, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and Astor Piazzolla. Rafael González, President & CEO of Grand Performances, explained, 'Great programming should surprise and inspire. At Grand Performances, we're always looking for ways to keep our curation fresh while creating opportunities for discovery. Our partnership with The Colburn School brings a new classical music experience to DTLA ArtNight, showcasing extraordinary music performed by students and alumni that spans cultures, generations, and traditions.'
DTLA ArtNight also continues its partnerships with major cultural institutions, including DATALAND, The Broad, MOCA, and others. DATALAND will present its inaugural exhibition, 'Machine Dreams: Rainforest,' described as the world's first omni-sensory AI art experience spanning over 25,000 square feet. Refik Anadol, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of DATALAND, said, 'For many years, we have dreamed of a place where audience and artwork could merge. At DATALAND, that dream has now become reality, and we are excited to open our doors and share it with the public.'
Featured experiences include a photography event hosted by Samy's Camera and Sony Electronics at Emergent Gallery, where participants can borrow Sony cameras and lenses, photograph the event, and enter a competition with a $2,000 grand prize. Additionally, The Biltmore Los Angeles will host an exhibition by photographer Andrei Duman, 'The Art of X Rays,' accompanied by live jazz and a book signing.
The expansion into the Fashion District and the new partnerships underscore DTLA ArtNight's commitment to unifying Downtown's diverse neighborhoods through arts and culture.
