Mining exploration company ESGold Corp. has uncovered a potentially significant mineral deposit target at its Montauban Project in Quebec, following a comprehensive review of historical geophysical survey data. The newly identified zone, located in the southwestern portion of the project area, exhibits characteristics strongly indicative of a buried sulfide-rich volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) environment.
The anomaly was revealed through an internal analysis of a 2015 VTEM (Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic) survey, complemented by extensive historical drilling records. Spanning an area within ESGold's expanded 255-claim property covering 13,116 hectares, the target remains completely undrilled and represents a high-priority exploration opportunity.
Geophysical indicators suggest the zone possesses a robust conductive and magnetic signature, which geological experts typically associate with potential mineral-rich deposits. This discovery signals a strategic shift for ESGold, extending beyond its current focus on near-term production through tailings reprocessing to exploring broader district-scale discovery potential.
The company is currently finalizing its first comprehensive 3D geological model of the Montauban Project. This model will integrate multiple data sources, including the VTEM survey, Total Magnetic Intensity (TMI) data, over 950 historical drill records, and upcoming Ambient Noise Tomography (ANT) survey results. The integrated approach aims to provide precise guidance for future targeted drilling operations.
Located approximately 80 kilometers west of Quebec City, the Montauban Project represents more than a potential mineral discovery. It embodies ESGold's commitment to responsible mining practices, balancing immediate production goals with long-term exploratory strategies. The southwest anomaly discovery underscores the potential for significant value generation through systematic, data-driven exploration techniques.
While the full economic potential of this newly identified target remains to be determined, the geophysical characteristics suggest a promising avenue for further investigation. Geological experts will be closely monitoring ESGold's next steps in characterizing and potentially developing this intriguing mineral exploration opportunity.
