Florida Education Institute is conducting multiple culinary events this week that highlight student talent and foster community engagement through food. The institution's Culinary Arts program has partnered with Univision to provide students with practical catering experience during a studio event, offering media professionals a taste of emerging culinary skills.
On Thursday, the institute will host a complimentary pizza gathering on campus designed to promote relaxation and camaraderie among students. This casual event aims to help students connect between classes while reinforcing the community atmosphere that defines the institution's approach to education.
The week concludes with an Adult Cooking Workshop – Latin Fiesta Night scheduled for Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Doral Central Park. This hands-on cooking class offers participants the opportunity to learn new culinary techniques while enjoying gourmet dishes with paired drinks. The menu features tostones with avocado crème and mango pico as an appetizer, mojo-marinated skirt steak with yuca mash and chimichurri as the main course, and dulce de leche lava cake for dessert.
Tickets for the workshop are available at $40 per person, providing access to an immersive culinary experience suitable for couples, friends, or individual food enthusiasts. Chef Maria Gonzalez, Director of the Culinary Arts program at FEI, emphasized that food serves as a powerful connector, stating that these events allow students to refine their skills while building meaningful relationships within the Miami community.
These events demonstrate the institution's commitment to practical learning and community integration, providing students with valuable real-world experience while strengthening local connections. The culinary programming represents how educational institutions can bridge classroom learning with community engagement, creating opportunities for skill development while fostering relationships that benefit both students and the broader community.
