Fort Worth's DFW Car and Toy Museum Draws Over 600 Visitors on Inaugural Day

The newly established DFW Car and Toy Museum in Fort Worth welcomed more than 600 guests during its first public day, signaling strong community enthusiasm for its extensive automotive and toy collection. Founded by Ron Sturgeon, a longtime collector with a half-century automotive background, the museum represents a significant expansion from its previous location in Haltom City.

The museum's new 150,000-square-foot facility at 2550 McMillan Parkway marks a dramatic upgrade from its previous site, offering visitors a substantially larger space to explore an impressive array of automotive and toy memorabilia. Sturgeon and his team extensively renovated the building, modernizing its interior by removing outdated features like shag carpeting and implementing comprehensive aesthetic improvements.

With a collection featuring over 200 cars and more than 3,000 toys, the museum represents a unique preservation effort of automotive history and nostalgic collectibles. The museum's collection includes a notable assemblage of 35 Volkswagens, reflecting Sturgeon's early automotive career working on VW bugs.

The museum offers several visitor-friendly features, including free admission, free parking, and a dog-friendly environment that encourages photography. Its strategic location near Interstate 35 and a prominent signage ensures high visibility and accessibility for automotive enthusiasts and families.

Looking forward, the museum is preparing for significant upcoming events, including hosting the Antique Toy Collectors of America's annual convention on May 5, 2025, and a grand opening event on April 12, 2025, featuring a cars and coffee gathering.

Beyond public exhibitions, the facility also provides additional services such as secure, climate-controlled car storage and event spaces suitable for car clubs and corporate meetings, positioning itself as a multifunctional automotive and cultural destination.

Operating Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, the DFW Car and Toy Museum represents a significant cultural and historical preservation effort, offering visitors a comprehensive journey through automotive and toy collection history.
