The 2025 Georgia Accounting Food Fight has concluded with remarkable success, raising $380,071.50—the equivalent of nearly 1.5 million meals—to address food insecurity across the state. This annual fundraising campaign, now in its 12th year, represents a collaborative effort between Feeding Georgia and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, demonstrating how professional communities can mobilize resources to combat hunger effectively.
The campaign's significance lies in its timing and targeted approach. The Georgia Accounting Food Fight is strategically scheduled each year to restock food banks after the summer surge they experience following the conclusion of school lunch assistance programs. During the two-week competition, accounting professionals compete to raise funds for nine food banks across Georgia, with all funds raised by each team staying local and benefiting the food bank serving their specific community.
Collins/Moody & Company earned the title of Grand Prize Food Fight Hero by raising $2,100 and achieving the most points per employee statewide. Nichols, Cauley and Associates was named Grand Prize Hunger Champion Winner for raising $61,140.67 with the most statewide points overall. The impact of this initiative is particularly crucial given current statistics showing that 1 in 7 Georgians experiences food insecurity, meaning they may not know when their next meal will be. Fundraisers like the Georgia Accounting Food Fight directly support Feeding Georgia's mission to provide nutritious meals to those in need and work toward creating a hunger-free Georgia.
Since its inception in 2014, the Georgia Accounting Food Fight has collectively raised $2,926,634.60, equivalent to 11,706,538 meals for the state's food banks. Boyd Search, CEO of The Georgia Society of CPAs, noted that this year marked their most successful campaign yet, with CPAs across Georgia raising more than $380,000 to fight hunger. The sustained success of this initiative reflects the accounting profession's ongoing commitment to community welfare and demonstrates how organized professional efforts can generate substantial social impact when focused on critical needs like food security.
