Georgia entrepreneur David Wiley is raising awareness about the critical lack of immediate, practical support for families living on the financial edge across the state. Wiley, founder of Belief Marketing Services and the nonprofit Cash In Time Ministries, emphasizes that many families are just one unexpected expense away from crisis.
"People don't realise how close many families are to a crisis," Wiley says. "Sometimes it's one flat tyre, one late paycheque, or one medical bill that pushes someone over the edge." This perspective comes from decades of serving both business clients and vulnerable families through his nonprofit, which provides rapid, small-scale assistance for groceries, rent, or urgent utilities when families have nowhere else to turn.
The urgency of this issue is supported by national data. According to the Federal Reserve's Economic Well-Being Report, 37% of Americans cannot cover a $400 emergency. Additionally, the National Energy Assistance Directors Association reports that over 25 million households fell behind on utility bills in the past year. These statistics highlight a widespread vulnerability that Wiley encounters directly through his work with Cash In Time Ministries.
Wiley challenges the common misconception that meaningful help requires substantial financial contributions or formal charity work. "A lot of people think helping requires starting a charity or giving thousands," he notes. "But most of the impact comes from small actions. Checking on a neighbour. Paying a bill for someone who's trying their best. Showing up when it matters." He draws this philosophy from his diverse background, including growing up in a Marine household, his experience as a two-time All-American athlete, building businesses from the ground up, and coaching youth sports for nearly a decade.
"Small details create big change," Wiley says. "It's true in business, in coaching, and in life. The little things add up." He encourages individuals across Georgia and beyond to take simple, immediate steps within their own communities. These actions include checking in on a neighbour or coworker who seems overwhelmed, offering to cover a small, urgent need for a family in crisis, and simply being present for someone without a safety net.
"Every community has people who are trying hard but falling behind," Wiley states. "You don't need a big platform to make a real difference. Just choose one person and start there." This call to action underscores the importance of localized, person-to-person support systems as a vital complement to broader social services, especially as economic pressures continue to strain household budgets nationwide.
