German Fest Milwaukee is set to return to Henry Maier Festival Park from July 25 to 27, 2025, offering a weekend filled with KARNEVAL, authentic German and Austrian music, traditional foods, and family-friendly activities. This year's festival marks the 43rd annual celebration, continuing a tradition that began in 1981 to honor Milwaukee's German-American heritage.
Attendees can look forward to a variety of experiences, including indulging in traditional German fare such as SPANFERKEL, bratwurst, and schnitzel, alongside German-style beers and wines. The festival will also feature performances by bands from Germany and Austria, including voXXclub and Juhe aus Tirol, on the Miller Stage.
Cultural and heritage activities will include the Cultural Village, with a German Language Center, genealogy tent, and live craft demonstrations. Highlights such as the Glockenspiel, Trachtenschau, MARDI GRAS SHOW, and the Dachshund Derby on Sunday promise to entertain all ages. Family fun will be abundant with STIHL Timbersports, Pretzel Park's crafts, and a vibrant Karneval parade and costume contest.
German Fest Milwaukee is committed to giving back to the community, offering free admission to active military personnel and veterans with proper ID, and hosting a back-to-school supply drive in partnership with MPS. The festival also continues its support for the Hunger Task Force, offering free admission to those who donate three cans of healthy fruits or vegetables or make a cash donation.
As North America's largest German heritage festival, German Fest Milwaukee not only celebrates the rich traditions and culture of Germany and German-speaking regions but also fosters cultural understanding and community engagement. The festival's emphasis on education, scholarships, and community outreach underscores its importance beyond the weekend of celebration.
