Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. has uncovered substantial gold anomalies in the northern section of its Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property, signaling promising opportunities for future gold exploration in central British Columbia. The discovery, based on detailed Molecular Migration Index (MMI) soil sampling, presents potentially significant geological insights for the region.
The company's geological team, led by David Mark, P.Geo., identified two distinct gold anomalies within a survey area spanning approximately 1.7 kilometers by 0.5 kilometers. These anomalies represent promising targets for further investigation during the 2025 exploration season.
The first anomaly, located at the eastern edge of the survey area's northern section, measures 240 meters north by at least 135 meters east and remains open to further expansion. Positioned 260 meters north of a previous drill hole, this anomaly represents the strongest gold target on the property.
The second anomaly presents a more complex geological signature, featuring not only gold but also elevated levels of copper, silver, arsenic, cadmium, cobalt, molybdenum, lead, antimony, and zinc. Covering an area of at least 200 meters north by 500 meters east, this zone remains open to the north, west, and east, suggesting potential for significant mineral exploration.
These discoveries are particularly noteworthy given the property's historical context. Located near Hixon in central British Columbia, the Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property sits in a region with a rich mining heritage dating back to the mid-1860s. Over 101 placer gold creeks have historically recorded production in the 90-kilometer trend, highlighting the area's geological potential.
The MMI soil sampling technique has proven invaluable in identifying these new targets, demonstrating its effectiveness in correlating with known gold mineralization. By revealing multiple gold anomalies throughout the survey area, the technique offers a sophisticated approach to geological exploration.
Golden Cariboo Resources plans to expand its trenching and drilling activities to investigate these northern zones during the upcoming exploration season. The company's strategic approach, focusing on highly targeted programs, positions it to potentially uncover significant mineral resources in this historically productive region.
