Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. has commenced its autumn surface drilling campaign at the Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine Property, located approximately 4 kilometers northeast of Hixon, British Columbia. This exploration phase builds on previous successful programs and targets extending the gold bearing Halo and Main zones' strike length from nearly 600 meters to 2 kilometers adjacent to the black argillite-greenstone contact.
The company has strengthened its technical team with the addition of two Professional Geoscientists, Cheryl Reid and Catherine Banfield. Reid brings 20 years of mineral exploration experience across Canada, specializing in VMS and Archean greenstone belt hosted orogenic gold projects with expertise in drill supervision, core logging, and field mapping. Banfield offers 20 years of international and domestic experience in polymetallic mineral exploration, providing valuable insight into structural interpretation and geological modeling.
President and CEO J. Frank Callaghan expressed enthusiasm about the campaign and new team members, stating their combined experience and technical acumen will be invaluable for expanding gold bearing zones and defining new targets. The Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property represents Golden Cariboo's flagship project in the historic Cariboo Gold District, bordered by Osisko Development and located along a favorable geological corridor adjacent to the Spanish and Eureka thrust faults across a 94,899 hectare area.
The property includes the Quesnelle Quartz gold-silver deposit, originally discovered in 1865 and developed over approximately 150 by 150 meters at the Main zone straddling Hixon Creek. The geological setting shows strong similarities to the Spanish Mountain gold deposit located 120 kilometers southeast along the same geological trend. As a sediment-hosted vein deposit, Spanish Mountain belongs to the epizonal orogenic subclass that includes some of the world's largest gold deposits such as Muruntau in Uzbekistan and Bendigo in Australia.
Historically, over 101 placer gold creeks along the 90-kilometer trend from the Cariboo Hudson mine north to the Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property have recorded production, with successful placer mining continuing today. The property remains road accessible from Hixon in central British Columbia, facilitating ongoing exploration activities.
