The Hero Awards has announced a new initiative that enables citizen activists to gain recognition for their contributions to the United Nations' 17 Sustainability Goals through a structured process involving seven artificial intelligence systems. According to Sustainability Director Amy Chang, the program addresses a gap in acknowledging grassroots efforts toward planetary improvement by combining AI and human intelligence to evolve solutions for the UN's 169 Targets.
The methodology leverages the distinct strengths of each large language model while minimizing hallucinations, resulting in comprehensive and actionable plans. The proven sequence begins with Meta.ai, followed by Claude.ai, Copilot.microsoft.com, Gemini.google.com, Perplexity.ai, Deepseek.com, and concludes with Chatgpt.com (v.5). Each Target is processed through this chain, with outputs refined iteratively to enhance originality and practicality.
Initial testing involved students from Cambridge, Yale, Berkeley, Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, and Oxford, alongside girls from the Herat Underground School in Afghanistan, which educates those barred from formal schooling by the Taliban. The project, co-created by Friends Beyond Borders, AI Happiness Accelerator, and the World Mind Network, demonstrated that participants who follow the protocol are highly likely to win a Hero Award due to the depth of AI-assisted innovation.
Beyond award recognition, the program significantly advances participants' cognitive skills. Education Director Savithri Machiraju notes that engaging with diverse AI personalities improves problem-solving abilities exponentially. In precursor experiments, 61 out of 100 participants authored popular blog posts, 39 published articles, 8 established NGOs or nonprofits, and 5 launched startups, with similar outcomes anticipated here.
Solutions are archived on academia.edu for ongoing study, and winners are promoted through media channels. Importantly, awardees can confer the prize onto others adhering to the protocol, fostering a ripple effect of engagement. This initiative democratizes efforts toward global sustainability, illustrating that meaningful change is achievable and personally enriching through collaborative human-AI interaction.
