The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) hosted 786 events during the financial year 2025–2026 (July 2025 to June 2026), including 128 exhibitions, 81 international and local conferences, and hundreds of corporate meetings, banquets, and entertainment events. The venue welcomed over 7.7 million attendees and hosted 25 new conferences and exhibitions, several of which were Hong Kong or Asian debuts. These inaugural events have already confirmed their return to the HKCEC next year, according to the venue's management.
Ms Monica Lee-Müller, Managing Director of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML), said the centre leveraged Hong Kong's unique advantage as a gateway between the Chinese Mainland and the rest of the world. She noted that HML aligned its business development focus on four key sectors—Medical, Innovation and Technology, Finance, and Education—and secured landmark debuts. "We are thrilled that these inaugural events were met with resounding success and have already confirmed their return to the HKCEC next year," she said. "Looking forward, we will continue to provide a world-class platform that empowers Mainland enterprises to go global while attracting international investment, creating a powerful engine for Hong Kong's long-term economic growth."
Among the notable debuts was the inaugural Hong Kong Comic Con 2026, which demonstrated the appeal of launching major international intellectual properties in the city. The event generated substantial economic value and business opportunities, and organisers have confirmed it will return to the HKCEC in 2027. The venue also hosted multiple international medical conferences for the first time, including the 9th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery, which brought together leading experts and more than 3,000 global participants. The 15th China Chest Pain Centers Congress was held in Hong Kong for the first time, marking a milestone for a national medical association convention. These events underscore Hong Kong's standing as a professional hub in the medical sector and its role as a two-way platform showcasing national healthcare standards while supporting Mainland enterprises in their global expansion.
Asia's flagship events have also reaffirmed Hong Kong as their long-term host city. Art Basel Hong Kong, held annually at the HKCEC since 2013, has reached an agreement with the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau to designate Hong Kong as the sole Asian venue for the next four years. Meanwhile, Vinexpo Asia, a premier wine and spirits trade event since 1998, is ending its rotation with Singapore. Organiser Vinexposium announced that Vinexpo Asia will make Hong Kong its home starting in 2027.
Looking ahead, HML will continue to secure prestigious exhibitions and conferences. Recent additions include the inaugural LEAP East in July, the inaugural Global Unicorn Summit in August, and the World Cancer Congress 2026 in September. Later this year, the HKCEC will host the Amazing Toy Show Hong Kong 2026 for the first time in December. For more information about the venue, visit http://www.hkcec.com. The continued success of the HKCEC is significant for Hong Kong's economy, as events at the venue contribute substantial economic benefits and help raise the city's international image. By attracting high-profile global events, HML aims to enrich Hong Kong's events landscape and cement its status as a leading convention and exhibition hub. The return of major debuts and the relocation of Vinexpo Asia to Hong Kong signal sustained confidence in the city as a premier destination for international business and cultural exchanges.
