The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) organized two technology pavilions featuring 22 exhibitors at GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, facilitating Hong Kong's innovation and technology enterprises' entry into the Middle Eastern market. The collaborative effort resulted in substantial business achievements, including memorandums of understanding and distribution agreements that underscore the region's growing appetite for Hong Kong's technological expertise.
Robocore Technology Limited emerged as one of the standout success stories from the exhibition. The company engaged in discussions with a multinational outdoor advertising company considering global deployment of Robocore's advertising robots. CEO Roy Lam reported establishing connections with more than 250 Middle Eastern companies during the five-day event, with numerous buyers expressing interest in purchasing robots or becoming local distributors. The company's most significant achievement involves signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Omani authorities to co-establish an AI and Robotics Center in Oman, focusing on localized talent training, certification programs, and cross-departmental pilot projects.
Lam emphasized the strategic importance of these developments, noting that GITEX marked Robocore's fourth overseas exhibition with HKTDC support this year, following participation in CES in Las Vegas, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and Viva Technology in Paris. The consistent international exposure has demonstrated strong Middle Eastern demand for Hong Kong's I&T products and services, prompting continued regional expansion efforts. The HKTDC facilitated deeper market integration through a networking dinner on October 14, organized in collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai. The event attracted approximately 100 industry representatives from Hong Kong, the Middle East, and international markets, creating valuable business matching opportunities. Winnie Leung, founder of WYNI Technology, credited the HKTDC with bridging the gap between Hong Kong's I&T enterprises and Middle Eastern markets by establishing local contacts and connecting companies with regional banks and potential partners.
Canpanion Group Limited leveraged the networking opportunities to engage with a local education company, exploring technology integration for inclusive education initiatives. The company also established contact with local authorities and will further explore collaboration opportunities through the Economic and Trade Office in Dubai. Additionally, a local educational institution expressed interest in partnering with Canpanion and government entities to establish an AI school, potentially creating a comprehensive smart education ecosystem in the region.
Concurrent with GITEX Global, HKSTP maintained a presence at Expand North Star from October 12-15 at Dubai Harbour, showcasing innovative solutions from 10 park companies. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University also participated in the exhibition, demonstrating the breadth of Hong Kong's technological capabilities. These coordinated efforts reinforce Hong Kong's position as a global innovation and technology hub while providing practical pathways for startups to access international markets.
The HKTDC continues its commitment to supporting Hong Kong businesses through major international tech exhibitions, with planned participation in CES in Las Vegas in January, MWC 2026 in Barcelona in March, and VivaTech in Paris. These ongoing initiatives provide crucial platforms for I&T companies to showcase cutting-edge technologies and establish global business connections, ensuring Hong Kong maintains its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
