The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) today announced that the fifth edition of International Healthcare Week will be held from 11 to 31 May 2026, spotlighting Hong Kong's position as a leading medical technology and investment hub in Asia. The flagship events—the sixth Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) and the 17th Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair (Medical Fair)—will run concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 11 to 13 May, offering a comprehensive platform covering the entire medical and healthcare industry chain.
“The medical and healthcare landscape is undergoing a profound and rapid transformation. Hong Kong, by leveraging its preeminence as an international financial centre, its world-class research ecosystem and its unique positioning bridging the Chinese Mainland and the world, serves as an ideal platform for scientific excellence, strategic investment and financing, and international trade for medical and healthcare innovation,” said Sophia Chong, Executive Director of the HKTDC.
The ASGH, themed “Fuelling Healthcare Breakthroughs,” will feature a prestigious lineup of international health officials, Nobel laureates, and industry experts. The opening session will include remarks by Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee and Prof Zeng Yixin, Vice Minister of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China. Plenary sessions will address pandemic preparedness, biopharmaceutical advancement, and cross-sector collaboration. Notably, 2013 Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry Prof Michael Levitt will share insights during the “Dialogue with Global Pioneer in Health” session.
The summit will also feature a dedicated CSO Insights session on AI drug discovery and oncology, alongside thematic sessions on AI in healthcare, the silver economy, and traditional Chinese medicine modernization, aligning with the National 15th Five-Year Plan and the “Healthy China” initiative.
The Medical Fair, themed “Innovations Boosting Smart Health Experience,” will gather some 300 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions, including new participants from Macao, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Vietnam, and the United States. The fair will spotlight three key categories: MedTech, GeronTech, and Preventive Healthcare. Exhibitors will showcase cutting-edge products such as a smart health wearable watch integrating Chinese and Western medicine, an augmented reality surgical platform for orthopaedic surgeons, and a world-first smart knee brace incorporating AI and wearable technology.
The events will also facilitate business matching through the ASGH Deal-making platform and the “Click2Match” smart business matching platform, available from 4 May to 20 May. Additionally, the “GoGlobal Connect” Zone and Business of Healthcare Advisory Zone will provide guidance on overseas expansion and fundraising.
“Collectively, the twin events reinforce the ‘Healthy China’ initiative, solidify Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s leading biotech and investment hub, and demonstrate Hong Kong’s role as a superconnector and super value-adder,” added Chong.
