The Shredder Mill 2800 is an upgrade to Horning's well-regarded 340 model and is capable of processing and bagging high-moisture corn at an impressive rate of up to 2,300 bushels per hour. This enhanced capacity is crucial as modern tractors continue to increase in size and power, demanding more from milling equipment. Leon Horning of Horning Manufacturing emphasized that the new model is designed to keep pace with these growing demands.
One of the standout features of the Shredder Mill 2800 is its integration of several processes into one machine. The unit is PTO-driven but equipped with its own hydraulic and braking systems, which simplifies connections and reduces the load on tractors. The machine boasts a 300-horsepower belt system that drives an on-demand hydraulic pump, designed to save fuel. Additionally, the integral disc brakes ensure that the bags are consistently and tightly packed.
The machine also includes an updated intake hopper to minimize spillage during transfers from trucks or wagons. Moreover, the auger can be positioned on either the left or right side, facilitating easier unloading. These features collectively aim to reduce downtime and improve the overall efficiency of the corn processing operation.
Other notable features of the Shredder Mill 2800 include a sample inspection drawer, one-man hoop changes, single-wrench roll adjustments, and an easy access cleanout compartment. Additionally, an optional inoculation system is available for those who need it.
