HS-Soft AG, the market leader for bakery till systems in the DACH region, has chosen Munich-based FinTech firm Rubean AG as its SoftPOS partner, the companies announced. The partnership aims to replace traditional card readers by integrating payment acceptance directly into modern till systems, supporting local card systems such as girocard alongside Mastercard and Visa.
For 39 years, HS-Soft AG has specialized in software and till systems for bakeries, patisseries, and confectioners across the DACH region, currently serving more than 700 businesses with over 4,000 till stations. The integration of Rubean SoftPOS means that payment terminals become an application on the till itself, eliminating the need for separate card readers with their own cables, contracts, and maintenance.
Heiner Schriever, founder and CEO of HS-Soft, explained the practical benefits: “At many bakery counters today, there are two devices side by side: the till and the card terminal, each with its own cable, its own contract and its own maintenance. With Rubean, the terminal becomes an app on the till. This means: one less device, lower costs, and every new till can accept cards straight away, without the need to have a separate terminal delivered and set up first.” He added that customers simply hold their card or mobile phone up to the till screen, which also displays their shopping, making transactions quick even during busy morning queues.
Stephan Kück, co-CEO of Rubean, said, “Together with HS-Soft, we’re creating a new checkout experience for bakeries and their customers.” Rubean AG, headquartered in Munich, has developed a technologically and regulatory-compliant payment platform that enables merchants, partners, and integrators to accept card payments on mobile devices via the Rubean SoftPOS app. The platform supports various banks and acquirers in using local and global card systems, as well as enterprise applications and value-added services, with high availability, scalability, and security. After years of investment in research and development, the Rubean solution is in daily use in large-scale deployments and is now entering a phase of development and scaling.
The partnership matters for the bakery sector because it addresses long-standing inefficiencies at the point of sale. By consolidating payment acceptance into the till, bakery operators can reduce hardware costs, simplify maintenance, and speed up service—critical advantages in a high-volume, quick-service environment where queues are common. For the wider payments industry, the deal signals growing adoption of SoftPOS technology among small and medium-sized merchants, potentially accelerating the shift away from dedicated card terminals. The announcement also strengthens Rubean’s position in the DACH region, as reported by NEWMEDIAWIRE. More information about Rubean is available at www.rubean.com.
