Hunky's Cedar Springs will host an Art Show & Auction on September 17, 2025, during Pride in Dallas Week, featuring custom portraits by Texas artist Becca Waugh. The event benefits the Cedar Springs Merchant Association (CSMA), which supports neighborhood beautification, safety initiatives, and small business advocacy in the Oak Lawn community.
The auction includes whimsical, one-of-a-kind artworks inspired by classic Hunky's menu items, turning corn dogs, hot dogs, and burgers into cheeky portraits. Featured subjects include CSMA board members and local personalities such as Kevin Miller, CSMA President, Lee Daugherty, CSMA Secretary, and Jason Preston, CSMA Treasurer, alongside community figures like Leo Cusimano, Publisher of Dallas Voice, and Brad Pritchett, Chief Experience Officer at the Dallas Museum of Art.
The CSMA plays a vital role in strengthening the community through events like the Cedar Springs Wine Walk and the Clover Classic Golf Tournament, raising funds that preserve the historic and cultural character of Cedar Springs. This art auction directly supports these efforts, fostering growth and inclusivity while ensuring the area remains a vibrant destination. The event includes a VIP reception from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for portrait celebrities and sponsors, followed by a general reception open to the community from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., with a suggested $10 donation at the door.
Community partners such as Just Enough Wines, Planteray Rum, Suerte Tequila, US Foods, and Signature Baking Company have provided generous support. This initiative highlights the importance of local arts and culture in driving economic and social benefits, reinforcing community bonds during Pride in Dallas Week.
