Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international peace organization, is set to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its World Peace Summit with events in South Korea and 122 countries on September 18, 2024. Celebrating under the theme 'Creating World Peace Community Through Regional Collaboration,' the events will highlight HWPL's decade-long commitment to fostering global harmony and propose future strategies for peace promotion.
Founded in 2014, HWPL's inaugural World Peace Summit in Seoul brought together media representatives from 140 countries and leaders from various sectors, including political, religious, youth, and women's organizations. The summit addressed pressing issues such as conflict resolution, religious harmony, and the creation of a legal framework to ensure lasting peace.
As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, HWPL plans to showcase significant achievements from the past decade and discuss future initiatives. The organization aims to develop peace strategies and bolster regional networks to address local peace threats effectively. Under the slogan 'let's have everyone become a messenger of peace,' HWPL emphasizes individual responsibility in promoting peace at all societal levels.
A key feature of the anniversary event in South Korea will be the collection and presentation of peace messages from people worldwide. These messages will symbolize the collective desire for peace and unity across diverse communities.
Since the signing of peace agreements at the 2014 World Peace Summit, HWPL has collaborated with global partners to tackle challenges such as military tensions, economic disputes, climate change, and cybersecurity threats. The organization is focused on establishing a robust peace governance framework, connecting international groups, governments, and civil society organizations.
HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee, speaking at the ninth annual commemoration of the September 18th World Peace Summit, questioned the necessity of sacrificing young lives in war. 'Peace cannot be achieved through words alone. If peace had won in this world, there would have been no regrettable deaths. We must leave peace as a legacy to the global community where our descendants will live,' he stated.
HWPL's decade-long efforts underscore the importance of collective action and regional collaboration in achieving global peace. The upcoming anniversary events are expected to reinforce the organization's mission and inspire renewed commitment to peace among global leaders and citizens.
