Insurance Canopy, a national provider of small business and vendor insurance, has announced a partnership with FirstService Residential to offer streamlined event insurance access for residential communities. The program, unveiled on August 5, 2026, aims to simplify how communities handle insurance coverage for on-site events and vendor activities.
Through this collaboration, residents, management teams, and outside vendors within FirstService Residential-managed communities can now secure coverage via a dedicated portal. The portal directs users to insurance options tailored to their specific event needs, with policies that match the size and scope of each gathering. On-site vendors can also purchase short-term policies suited to their businesses, helping communities meet insurance requirements without added friction.
Daryle Stafford, CEO of Insurance Canopy, highlighted the problem the program solves: “Property managers can often end up acting as the go-between for residents, vendors, and insurers. This program gives residents and associates at FirstService Residential communities access to a single place to find the right coverage and handle it quickly.”
Event insurance has historically been a bottleneck for residential communities, as coverage requirements vary by event type and vendor. This partnership addresses that by providing a centralized, online process that eliminates the need for agents and lengthy paperwork. Andrew Lester, President of FS Insurance Brokers, an affiliate of FirstService Residential, noted: “Events bring people together, and our teams bring thousands to life each year, enhancing the resident experience across the communities we manage. Insurance requirements for events can easily turn into a bottleneck for residents and management teams. Partnering with Insurance Canopy gives our communities a practical option that fits how events are organized and implemented on-site.”
The partnership was formed after FS Insurance Brokers observed steady demand from homeowners’ associations and residential communities already using Insurance Canopy individually. Expanding access through an enterprise program streamlined the quoting process for FirstService communities and shortened the time to purchase coverage. Insurance Canopy will continue to assist residential communities with online purchasing tools and direct support to keep event planning moving without insurance becoming a roadblock.
This program is significant because it addresses a common pain point in residential property management: the complexity and delay associated with obtaining event insurance. By offering a user-friendly, digital solution, the partnership reduces administrative burdens on property managers and ensures that events and vendor activities can proceed smoothly, enhancing the resident experience. For the insurance industry, it demonstrates a growing trend toward digital, on-demand coverage that meets the needs of modern consumers and businesses.
