Knowledge Summit 2024 Launches in Dubai, Focusing on Future Skills and AI Economy

The Knowledge Summit 2024 commenced today in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This prestigious event, hosted by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has gathered industry leaders, innovators, and experts from around the world to address critical issues in the knowledge sector and future skills development.

This year's summit, themed 'Future Skills and AI Economy,' underscores the UAE's commitment to fostering a knowledge-based economy and leveraging artificial intelligence across various sectors. Sweden claimed the top position, followed by Finland and Switzerland, while the United Arab Emirates achieved the highest ranking among Arab countries. The summit also saw the announcement of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award 2024 winners, recognizing individuals for their exceptional contributions to science, knowledge, and innovation. This year's recipients include HE Juma Al Majid, Dr. Ahmed Eid Khamis Thani Almheiri, Dr. Andrew Ng, Dr. David M. Clark, and Dr. Anke Ehlers.

In a first for the Arab world, the summit is hosting the 3rd UNESCO World Open Educational Resources (OER) Congress, bringing together senior officials and ministers to advance the global conversation on open educational resources. Additionally, the inaugural meeting of the Global Coalition for Skills Development was held, aiming to support the Future Skills Academy initiative and promote skill development among younger generations in the Arab region.
