The Knowledge Summit 2025 continued its second day with critical discussions on artificial intelligence's transformative potential for the Arabic language and broader knowledge economy development. Organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, the summit brought together global leaders and policymakers to address pressing challenges in today's rapidly evolving knowledge landscape.
A central panel emphasized that the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence presents unprecedented opportunities for the Arabic language, contingent on the region developing strong linguistic infrastructure. Experts stressed the necessity of deep integration among research institutions, technical models, and credible data ecosystems to harness AI's full potential for Arabic language development.
Athir Al-Khalifa, Director of Labs at the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, clarified that sophisticated linguistic systems require more than technological solutions alone. He emphasized that a holistic ecosystem supported by robust data and institutions capable of developing large-scale Arabic language models is essential for meaningful progress. This approach addresses concerns about AI's impact on linguistic diversity and cultural preservation.
Another session featured Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro, Professor at Osaka University's Department of Systems Innovation, who presented his vision of a human-avatar symbiotic society. He described how AI-driven avatars could revolutionize healthcare delivery, enhance service provision, and transform knowledge exchange mechanisms. Dr. Ishiguro emphasized that advanced robotics should be viewed as tools extending human capability rather than replacement technologies, a perspective crucial for workforce adaptation strategies.
The discussions expanded to include youth empowerment, multilingual knowledge accessibility, and cross-border collaboration as fundamental components for building equitable, future-ready knowledge systems. Artificial intelligence and digital transformation experts highlighted the urgent need to address the global gender gap in technology sectors, where women currently represent only 20 to 26 percent of the workforce according to summit presentations.
Investment and entrepreneurship sessions featured global experts outlining the essential pillars of thriving knowledge economies: talent development, innovation ecosystems, knowledge sharing, and progressive legislation. Participants noted Dubai's emergence as a global hub where people, ideas, and opportunities converge to shape future economic models. The summit's partnership structure between MBRF and UNDP demonstrates the importance of international cooperation in addressing these complex challenges.
The day concluded with an inspiring session by Huda Al Matroushi, the UAE's first female mechanic and garage owner, who shared her personal journey emphasizing passion as the driving force behind achievement. Her testimony highlighted how challenges can serve as transformative experiences that build resilience and determination, providing practical insights into overcoming barriers in technology and entrepreneurship fields.
