Automotive history comes alive with the addition of a stunning Alfa Romeo 2900B Mille Miglia Spider recreation to the DFW Car & Toy Museum's collection. The original 1938 Alfa Romeo 2900B was an engineering marvel, with only four models ever produced. British automotive enthusiast Stephen Muir, driven by an unquenchable passion for the 2900B's legacy, undertook an ambitious project to recreate this legendary machine. Working with Spydersport in the United Kingdom, Muir commissioned a meticulous recreation that required 18 months of painstaking craftsmanship. The result is a precisely engineered automobile that captures the essence of its historical predecessor.

The recreation's engineering is particularly noteworthy. Its Weslake-designed straight-eight engine was ingeniously constructed by combining two Alfa Romeo Alfetta four-cylinder engines, creating a 3.9-liter powerplant topped with quad Weber carburetors. Hand-formed aluminum bodywork and period-correct details like inboard four-wheel disc brakes and 19-inch wire wheels further authenticate the vehicle's historical accuracy.

Although the Appenine Car Company originally envisioned a limited production run, financial constraints meant this particular recreation remains the sole example. Its significance was recognized early on, earning a feature in the June 1995 issue of Classic and Sports Car magazine.
