The legendary all-female band Klymaxx, known for their groundbreaking contributions to funk and R&B, experienced a harrowing theft incident in Burlingame, California, shedding light on the risks touring artists endure. While dining at Kincaid's restaurant, their rental vehicle was broken into, resulting in the loss of professional equipment and personal belongings worth thousands of dollars. The theft occurred on June 23, 2025, around 4:45 pm, in the restaurant's parking lot. Despite the presence of a security guard, the theft went unnoticed until the band returned to their van. The Burlingame Police Department responded promptly, offering support to the shaken band members. Among the stolen items were musical instruments, personal identification documents, and cash, leaving the band in a precarious situation, missing flights and without means for immediate lodging.

Cheryl Cooley, Klymaxx's lead guitarist, expressed the emotional and physical toll of the incident, noting injuries from shattered glass and the stress of being stranded. The band's resilience was tested as they embarked on a grueling 7-hour drive back to Los Angeles, thanks to the determination of band member KK 'Funktress' Ross.

Charis Jones, COO of Klymaxx Music, LLC, emphasized the violation of the band's personal safety and livelihood. The incident has prompted the band to seek support through a GoFundMe campaign to recover their losses and continue their 40th Anniversary Tour.
