MAX Power Mining is advancing Canada's first natural hydrogen drill program through enhanced collaboration with the Petroleum Technology Research Center and University of Regina. A technical working session held at the U of R Innovation Center brought together researchers from multiple institutions to deepen understanding of Saskatchewan's naturally occurring hydrogen systems and identify new research and commercialization opportunities.
The collaboration includes representatives from PTRC, the University of Regina, the Saskatchewan Geological Survey, and the Colorado School of Mines, including Dr. Yaoguo Li. The session was led by Chief Geoscientist Steve Halabura and included a field visit to the Lawson drill site near Central Butte, Saskatchewan. This site represents the starting point for Canada's first natural hydrogen exploration program along the 475-kilometer Genesis Trend.
MAX Power has established a dominant position in the emerging natural hydrogen sector with approximately 1.3 million acres of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large volume accumulations of natural hydrogen. The company has identified high priority initial drill target areas with drilling scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025. Additional information about the company's progress is available at https://ibn.fm/gpk6S.
This development represents a significant advancement in North America's shift toward decarbonization and clean energy alternatives. Natural hydrogen, also known as white or gold hydrogen, occurs naturally in geological formations and could provide a zero-emission energy source without the carbon footprint associated with traditional hydrogen production methods. The research collaboration aims to better understand Saskatchewan's hydrogen systems and accelerate commercialization opportunities in this emerging energy sector.
Beyond its natural hydrogen initiatives, MAX Power maintains a portfolio of properties in the United States and Canada focused on critical minerals. The company recently made a diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona during 2024. Investors can follow updates on the company's developments at https://ibn.fm/MAXXF as Canada positions itself at the forefront of natural hydrogen exploration and development.
