The Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) has announced the lineup of culinary partners for its 20th Annual "Feed Me Fresh: An Edible Evening" fundraiser, set to take place on September 21, 2024, at Ivanna Farms in Mount Kisco. This event plays a pivotal role in supporting MKCCC's mission to provide equitable access to high-quality child care and early education for a diverse group of children.
Serving the Westchester community for over 50 years, MKCCC currently cares for 145 children through various full-day care, before- and after-school programs, and summer camp initiatives. The annual fundraiser draws its inspiration from MKCCC's innovative Feed Me Fresh curriculum, which educates children about health and nutrition through hands-on gardening and cooking activities. This seed-to-table program integrates farming and cooking classes to create developmentally appropriate activities that teach children about healthy eating habits.
Executive Director Dawn Meyerski highlighted the significance of community involvement in achieving MKCCC's goals. "By coming together to support our mission, these pillars of our community help us move closer to ensuring that every child in our community has access to high-quality childcare and nutritious meals," Meyerski said.
Attendees of this year's event will enjoy a variety of culinary offerings from local establishments. Participating restaurants include A & S Marketplace, Ben & Jerry's, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Crabtree's Kittle House, Exit 4 Food Hall, Ladle of Love, Little Drunken Chef, Lexington Square Café, Mentor's Mediterranean Steakhouse, Mimi's Coffee House, Monarca, and Mt. Kisco Seafood. Additionally, Chefs Tommy Calandrucci of Stone Fire and Maarten Steenman of La Tulipe Desserts will collaborate on a three-course plated meal during the event.
The event enjoys generous support from various community businesses and individuals, including Bedford & New Canaan Magazine, The Benefit Shop Foundation, Sakurako & Alain Biem, Leslie Cecil & Creighton Michael, and many more. All proceeds will directly support MKCCC's Scholarship Fund, which aids families who would otherwise struggle to afford high-quality child care.
This year, the honorees are Peter Schwarz, a longtime supporter and Treasurer of the MKCCC Board of Directors, and Ruth Goodman, MKCCC's social worker. Their dedication to the organization underscores the community's commitment to enhancing the lives of children.
"The dedication of the participating restaurants and the generosity of our sponsors are what make this event truly special. Their commitment to our community and our mission is invaluable, and we couldn't do it without their unwavering support and dedication to Mount Kisco Child Care Center," concluded Meyerski.
