The Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN) and the USAA Educational Foundation (USAAEF) have introduced a virtual financial education program aimed at enhancing financial readiness among military spouses, offering resources like webinars, toolkits, and peer support.
The Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN) and the USAA Educational Foundation (USAAEF) have announced the launch of a comprehensive virtual financial education program designed to provide military spouses with essential financial knowledge and tools. This new initiative aims to support military families by addressing financial readiness throughout their military journey.
Verenice Castillo, MSAN's founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of this program, stating, "MSAN and The USAA Educational Foundation's new training program will enhance access to financial education and training for a diverse group of military-connected spouses, including new and experienced spouses, post-9/11 veteran and retiree spouses, caregivers, and Gold Star and Surviving Spouses." Castillo highlighted the value of continuous learning and the need for a secure environment to discuss financial challenges, which this collaborative initiative aims to provide.
Members who join the MSAN Global Mentorship HUB will have access to various training courses focused on financial readiness, including financial health and goal setting, understanding military pay and benefits, saving for retirement, debt management, understanding credit, and investing for growth. These resources are available through MSAN's Virtual Education and Resource Center, offering a library of virtual content that is accessible 24/7. The platform includes webinars, educational videos, blogs, toolkits, professional training, and virtual gatherings, all provided at no cost to the community members.
Furthermore, MSAN's Financial Readiness Advocate will be available to facilitate discussions about the new program within the Mentorship HUB. This feature allows military spouses to connect with like-minded individuals through a secure chat feature, providing live peer-to-peer support and a daily feed filled with essential information unique to military life.
David Evetts, President of USAAEF, highlighted the critical role military spouses play in managing household finances, stating, "Military spouses often serve as the CFO of their household managing the finances to support their family. We are proud to partner with MSAN to equip military spouses with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed financial decisions and build a more secure future."
With this initiative, MSAN and USAAEF aim to empower military spouses by providing them with the necessary resources to navigate financial challenges effectively, ultimately contributing to stronger and more financially secure military families.
