The latest findings from the HR Research Institute, detailed in the 'State of Seasonal, Hourly and Volume Hiring 2025' report, underscore the importance of a strategic approach to high-volume hiring. Organizations that stand out in this area are four times more likely to find AI tools effective and three times more likely to connect hiring metrics with on-the-job performance, according to the study.
Key metrics such as quality of hire, conversion rate, time to hire, and retention rate are pivotal for long-term success, with 61% of respondents prioritizing the quality of hire above all. The research also highlights the critical role of technology in modern recruiting efforts, with applicant tracking systems and artificial intelligence tools like chatbots and SMS automation being equally favored by 51% of successful organizations.
Despite advancements, challenges like high turnover, poor candidate-job fit, and the manual processing of large application volumes persist. The study suggests that overcoming these hurdles requires not only advanced tools but also a well-defined strategy. Debbie McGrath, CEO of HR.com, emphasizes the synergy between data-driven metrics and technology in enhancing both the efficiency and quality of hiring processes.
This research offers valuable insights for HR professionals, especially those in industries dependent on large hourly or contract workforces, by demonstrating how strategic planning and the right technological tools can transform high-volume hiring into a competitive advantage.
