Nilu27, the hypercar brand recently founded by celebrated sports car designer Sasha Selipanov, has unveiled its much-anticipated NILU hypercar. This new vehicle challenges the prevailing trends in the automotive industry by eschewing electrification and digitalization to offer an unfiltered driving experience. The NILU hypercar is poised to make its public debut at the 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
The NILU hypercar draws inspiration from a diverse array of sources including '60s F1 and Le Mans racers, classic Italian design houses, the Bauhaus philosophy, American muscle cars, drift cars, mathematics, and avant-garde metal music. This eclectic mix results in a design that is both fresh and familiar, characterized by lean, aerodynamic curves and an exposed engine bay that emphasizes functional beauty.
Engineered with a bespoke carbon fiber monocoque and lightweight aluminum-alloy tubular subframes, the NILU hypercar aims to improve drivetrain access and heat extraction. The cabin design prioritizes ergonomics and safety, featuring a compact layout that does not compromise comfort. The use of manual controls for the human/machine interface eliminates distractions, enhancing the raw driving experience.
Under the hood, the NILU hypercar is powered by a 6.5-liter, 80-degree V12 engine developed in partnership with Hartley Engines. This naturally aspirated engine delivers over 1000 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful in its class. The unique 'Hot V' configuration, which swaps the conventional exhaust and intake positions, improves packaging, heat extraction, and aesthetics. The engine is paired with a seven-speed CIMA manual transmission, further emphasizing the analog driving experience.
The NILU hypercar's dynamics are enhanced by a double wishbone, pushrod suspension, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires mounted on intricately detailed Nilu27 centerlock wheels. Brembo's carbon-ceramic braking equipment ensures outstanding performance and fade resistance.
Production of the NILU hypercar will be highly exclusive, with only 15 units initially available. Nilu27 is also developing a street-homologated version limited to 54 units, including four unique, one-off designs. The initial prototype vehicles and first batch of customer cars will be assembled by Aria Group in Irvine, CA.
The unveiling of the NILU hypercar signifies a bold departure from current automotive trends, offering a visceral driving experience that celebrates the mechanical and analog aspects of sports cars. As the automotive world moves towards electrification, Nilu27's commitment to timeless design and raw performance ensures that the NILU hypercar will find a place in the collections of passionate car enthusiasts.
The NILU hypercar will be showcased to a select VIP and media group in Los Angeles before its public debut at Pebble Beach. Additionally, the car will feature in the mobile racing game CSR Racing 2, allowing players to experience its high-octane performance virtually.
