Nordex Group Wins 82 MW Wind Orders for Citizen Projects in Lower Saxony

Nordex Group has received orders from EFG Energy Farming Group for the supply and installation of twelve wind turbines across several citizen wind projects in Lower Saxony, Germany. The projects, named “Erlte-Endel” and “Bad Essen,” will have a combined installed capacity of around 82 MW and include 20-year Premium Service agreements.

The “Erlte-Endel” wind farm, located in the district of Vechta, will feature five N175/6.X turbines mounted on hybrid towers with a hub height of 179 meters. The “Bad Essen” project cluster in the district of Osnabrück will include seven turbines: five N175/6.X turbines on 179-meter towers and two N163/6.X turbines with a hub height of 164 meters. This cluster comprises four wind energy projects: Langewiesen-Nord, Langewiesen-Süd, Rabber Wiesen, and the Wimmerbruch repowering project.

Construction is slated to begin at the end of 2026, with turbine installation planned for 2027 and commissioning expected in spring 2028. The wind farms are developed by EFG Energy Farming Group and will be operated by landowners and regional citizen wind companies, ensuring local participation and benefits.

Reiner Borgmeyer, Managing Director of EFG Energy-Farming Holding GmbH, emphasized the collaborative approach: “With the wind farms in Erlte-Endel and Bad Essen, we are implementing two projects together with Nordex that demonstrate how wind energy use and regional value creation can go hand in hand. Landowners and community energy companies have been involved from the outset, ensuring that the energy transition remains firmly anchored locally.”

Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Europe of Nordex Group, added, “These two projects are exemplary of the successful combination of regional commitment and modern wind energy technology. Together with our long-standing customer, the EFG Energy Farming Group, we are creating wind farms that not only make an important contribution to the energy transition, but also enable reliable and sustainable electricity generation for many years to come thanks to their high efficiency.”

The orders underscore the growing trend of community-based renewable energy projects in Germany, which are seen as crucial for public acceptance and local economic development. By partnering with regional groups, Nordex is reinforcing its commitment to supporting decentralized energy transitions. The company has commissioned more than 64 GW of wind power capacity in over 40 markets since 1985 and reported consolidated sales of around EUR 7.6 billion in 2025. Its product portfolio focuses on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes, designed for markets with limited space and constrained grid capacity.

These projects also highlight the importance of repowering existing wind sites, such as the Wimmerbruch repowering project, to increase efficiency and output while reducing environmental impact. As Germany aims to expand renewable energy to meet climate targets, such initiatives are vital for achieving a sustainable and locally anchored energy supply.
