Opawica Explorations Discovers Promising Gold Mineralization in Abitibi Gold Belt

Canadian mineral exploration company Opawica Explorations has announced promising results from its 2025 drilling campaign at the Bazooka Property, located in the renowned Abitibi Gold Belt. The company's exploration efforts have revealed a substantial 76-meter mineralized zone containing visible gold, potentially signaling an important discovery in a region with extensive mining history.

The drill program, which completed ten diamond drill holes totaling 2,000 meters, intersected the critical Cadillac-Larder Fault multiple times. Geologically significant findings include visible gold observed at 348.5 meters depth in drill hole OP-25-33, along with consistent occurrences of arsenopyrite, fuchsite, and quartz veining throughout the mineralized interval.

The Bazooka Property's location along the Cadillac-Larder Lake break/fault provides strategic geological advantages. This structural zone marks the boundary between the Archean Abitibi and Pontiac subprovinces, a region recognized globally for its auriferous potential. The property's Main Zone, characterized by altered quartz-carbonate-sericite and talc-chlorite schists, offers estimated true width potential of up to 60 meters.

Preliminary structural interpretations suggest prospective east-west trending panels with steep northern dips, constrained within the Cadillac shear zone. This 150-meter-wide corridor of altered ultramafic units forms a distinctive Z-shape asymmetric drag fold, which could indicate complex but potentially mineral-rich geological conditions.

The exploration team has submitted 610 core samples for comprehensive assay analysis, with results anticipated to provide more detailed insights into the property's mineral composition and economic potential. Blake Morgan, Opawica's Chief Executive Officer, expressed optimism about encountering visible gold at an early stage of the exploration program.

These findings represent a significant step for Opawica Explorations in advancing its understanding of the Bazooka Property's mineral resources. The discovery highlights the continued importance of systematic geological exploration in identifying potential mining opportunities within established mineral-rich regions like the Abitibi Gold Belt.
