Her career also includes roles at Abbott Diagnostics and Roche Polska, and she currently serves as an independent non-executive director at Smith & Nephew.
Professor Hans Georg Nader, Chairman of the Management Board of Ottobock, said: “With Dr. Katarzyna Mazur-Hofsaess, we are gaining a proven expert in international medical technology and healthcare. Her experience in global companies and her medical background will be a valuable addition to our Board.”
A physician by training, Dr. Mazur-Hofsaess earned her doctorate at the Medical University of Gdansk and completed management studies at the Warsaw School of Economics and the University of Minnesota. She began her career at the University Clinical Centre in Gdansk.
Stefan Heidenreich stepped down as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board following the scheduled end of his five-year term. Ottobock credited him with playing a key role in the company’s strategic development, including its transition to a listed company. The company expressed its gratitude for his contributions.
This leadership change comes as Ottobock continues to expand its footprint in the global bionics market. The company, founded in 1919 and headquartered in Duderstadt, Germany, operates in 45 countries with nearly 9,300 employees and runs the world’s largest international patient care network with around 420 centers. With a strong R&D focus and over 2,600 patents, Ottobock is a key player in shaping the Human Bionics landscape.
The appointment signals Ottobock’s commitment to leveraging deep industry expertise to drive innovation in mobility solutions. Dr. Mazur-Hofsaess’s background in MedTech and her experience leading large global segments could help Ottobock accelerate its digitalization efforts and expand its reach in the healthcare market.
