Palladium USA has begun construction on Palladium Buckner Station, a $107 million mixed-income housing development in Southeast Dallas that will provide 304 residences with significant affordable housing components. The project, located adjacent to the Buckner DART Station at 400 S. Buckner Boulevard, represents a major investment in addressing housing affordability while improving transportation access for residents.
The development includes 304 thoughtfully designed homes with a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Of these residences, 244 units will be available at below-market rates for families earning up to 60% of the area median income, while 60 units will be offered at market rates. The community will also feature 30 three-bedroom, two-story townhomes, providing additional affordable housing options within the neighborhood.
Tom Huth, President and CEO of Palladium USA, emphasized the project's significance during the October 2, 2025 groundbreaking ceremony. "Construction has started, and we are proud to break ground on this transformational community, which reflects Palladium USA's ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, mixed-income housing in Dallas," Huth stated. "The property will deliver 304 thoughtfully designed homes with convenient access to public transportation."
The location adjacent to the Buckner DART Station addresses critical transportation needs for residents, particularly those with limited access to private vehicles. This strategic positioning supports workforce mobility and reduces transportation costs for lower-income households, while also promoting sustainable transit-oriented development patterns in the region.
The project's importance extends beyond immediate housing needs, representing a model for mixed-income community development that can be replicated in other urban areas facing affordability challenges. By integrating affordable and market-rate housing within the same development, Palladium Buckner Station aims to foster economic diversity and social integration while maintaining high-quality design standards. This development comes at a time when many American cities face severe affordable housing shortages, with Dallas experiencing particular pressure due to rapid population growth and rising housing costs. The project's scale and strategic location demonstrate how public transportation infrastructure can be leveraged to create more equitable housing opportunities while supporting broader community development goals in urban areas.
