Perpetuals.com Gains EU-Wide Crypto License Under MiCA, Expanding Regulated Services

Perpetuals.com Ltd. (NASDAQ: PDC) announced that its subsidiary, Perpetual Markets MTF, has received approval from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) to provide crypto-asset services under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). This authorization allows the company to operate a crypto-asset trading platform offering custody and administration, order execution, order reception and transmission, and crypto-asset transfer services.

The approval builds on Perpetuals' existing MiFID II-regulated multilateral trading facility (MTF). With MiCA authorization, the company can now offer these services across all EU member states through the MiCA cross-border notification framework. This positions Perpetuals to provide brokers and institutions with white-label access to regulated European crypto services using its infrastructure.

This development is significant for the cryptocurrency industry as it represents one of the early instances of a comprehensive crypto-asset license under MiCA, which aims to harmonize regulations across the EU. By obtaining this authorization, Perpetuals can operate seamlessly across borders, potentially increasing market liquidity and investor confidence. The move also highlights the growing trend of traditional financial firms integrating digital assets into their offerings.

For the broader financial sector, this authorization could set a precedent, encouraging other fintech companies to seek similar licenses. It may also accelerate institutional adoption of crypto-assets by providing a regulated environment for trading and custody. Retail investors could benefit from enhanced protection and transparency, as MiCA mandates strict compliance with anti-money laundering and consumer safeguards.

Perpetuals' proprietary trading platform, Kronos X, leverages AI and data analysis to monitor market activity in real time, identify trading patterns, and provide multi-asset coverage with self-clearing blockchain-based settlement. The company's licensed European MTF and Kronos X platform operate with full compliance under MiFID II, MiCA, DORA, and EMIR regulations.

The news is particularly relevant for investors and industry stakeholders watching the evolution of crypto regulation. As the EU establishes itself as a regulatory pioneer, companies like Perpetuals that obtain MiCA approval may gain a competitive edge in the European market. This could lead to increased cross-border trading and a more integrated European crypto ecosystem.
