Phil Jones, Jr., an author, coach, and ministry leader, has announced the release of his new book, Captain: 72 Days to Unlock Your Inner Superhero. The book offers a practical 72-day roadmap designed to help readers develop greater self-leadership, strengthen daily habits, and live with intentional purpose. Published by Lucid Books, an independent hybrid publisher based in the Houston area, the book challenges readers to take ownership of their decisions and embrace the courage necessary for lasting change.
Jones describes the book as more than motivational—it is a daily action plan. Each day presents readers with a simple but significant choice: Seize or Relinquish. Through consistent action and intentional reflection, Jones guides readers on a transformational journey toward becoming the captain of their own lives. 'Captain is a plan,' said Jones. 'If someone follows it for 72 days, I truly believe they cannot help but get results.' The book aims to help readers sharpen their vision, build resilience, and develop practical tools to lead themselves more effectively in every area of life.
Jones' background combines financial planning and pastoral ministry, providing a grounded perspective on personal growth. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Divinity from Liberty University. His passion for helping others discover purpose stems from decades of leadership experience. While Captain is his second completed manuscript, becoming a published author fulfills a long-held dream. 'I have dreamed of writing a book for years and felt like this is what I was supposed to do,' Jones shared. His love for writing began in a fourth-grade classroom where his class published a poetry book.
Jones faced challenges on his path to publication, including the step of putting himself out there. He credits a disciplined writing routine, inspired by author Og Mandino, and a practice he calls 'Bach O'Clock'—going into his office at the same time every day and turning on Bach to focus. He describes his writing journey as relentless, disciplined, and transformational—qualities woven throughout Captain. For aspiring authors, Jones advises: 'Decide, and do it.'
The book is published by Lucid Books, a partnership publisher offering the connections and expertise of a traditional publisher with the author involvement of a self-publisher. Jones hopes to inspire readers to stop waiting for change and start leading themselves toward it, one intentional day at a time. 'Today is the best day of your life,' he said. 'Change is possible, one day at a time.'
