The Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI), North America's foremost trade association representing the plastic pipe industry, has officially launched its search for a Director of Sustainability & Advocacy. This pivotal role is designed to further PPI's mission of promoting the advancement and acceptance of sustainable and resilient plastic pipe systems.
"The addition of the Director of Sustainability & Advocacy marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts to build a consensus for and advance the use of plastic pipe systems," stated David M. Fink, President of PPI. "With a focus on sustainability, resiliency, and government advocacy, this role is integral to driving positive change and supporting our mission to help create infrastructure systems for a better tomorrow."
Reporting directly to the President of PPI, the new Director will assume leadership of the PPI Sustainability Committee and will be responsible for developing and refining messaging that underscores the sustainability and resilience of plastic pipes. Key tasks will include managing PPI's dedicated webpages on these topics and creating case studies, promotional materials, and social media content that align with PPI's goals.
The role's responsibilities extend to government advocacy efforts, including assisting with government policies, directing lobbying activities, and representing PPI and its members on Capitol Hill. The Director will also oversee the PPI Umbrella Government Advocacy Committee, keep an updated list of legislative issues, and work collaboratively with lobbyists and association partners to develop key legislative proposals.
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess an accredited four-year degree in engineering, public relations, political science, governmental affairs, marketing, or communications. Additionally, three to five years of relevant experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, digital public relations experience, and familiarity with Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), along with prior advocacy experience.
