Returnstar Technology, a global provider of smart education and collaboration solutions, has launched the Q-NEX Smart Lectern SL100, an integrated digital podium designed to address the growing complexity of modern presentation spaces. As presentation environments become increasingly technology-driven, traditional lecterns often fail to keep pace, offering little more than a physical workspace. The SL100 aims to close this gap by unifying audience communication, content interaction, and system control into a single, streamlined device.
One of the key innovations of the SL100 is its dedicated 23.8-inch Full HD front-facing display, which serves as a digital signage screen for meeting information, event schedules, welcome messages, and other audience-facing content. This eliminates the need for an additional display or separate playback device, simplifying content management. Presenters can update the content locally via USB or remotely through a mobile app, making it easier to prepare and manage messaging without adding extra hardware to the setup.
In terms of presenter interaction, the SL100 integrates a 23.8-inch interactive pen and touch display with a built-in Windows PC. This allows presenters to access and operate their content directly from the lectern, much like using their own computer. The support for Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP)-compatible pens enables natural writing and annotation, reducing the reliance on external devices such as laptops, mice, or separate interactive displays. This integrated approach provides a familiar and seamless presentation experience.
AV control is another area where the SL100 sets itself apart. Traditional presentation systems often require separate interfaces or network-connected control systems to switch sources, adjust audio, or operate connected devices. The SL100 consolidates key functions—including 3×3 matrix switching, device control, presentation timing, and audio adjustment—into its integrated control panel. Notably, these core local controls operate without an internet connection, making the lectern easier to deploy in environments with complex network configurations and ensuring essential controls remain available even under unstable network conditions.
For organizations managing multiple presentation spaces, the SL100 offers remote management capabilities through integration with the Q-NEX Platform. Administrators can manage the lectern and supported connected devices via a web console or mobile app, providing a practical approach to maintaining presentation technology across various rooms. This extends the lectern's functionality beyond the room, addressing the challenges of overseeing technology in multiple venues.
The SL100 is part of the Q-NEX digital podium series, which includes the NDP200 and NDP600 for campus environments. The freestanding NDP200 suits larger spaces like auditoriums and lecture halls, while the desktop NDP600 is designed for classrooms with existing lecterns. The SL100, with its front-facing digital signage and network-independent control panel, is particularly suited for formal presentation environments such as executive meeting rooms, professional training spaces, and seminar halls.
By integrating presentation, AV control, interaction, and device management into a unified podium, the Q-NEX Digital Podium Series aims to simplify operations and improve technology management within a space. This coordinated solution helps organizations build more efficient, connected, and future-ready presentation environments, addressing the evolving needs of professional settings.
