REPLOID Group AG is consolidating its fertilizer business into a dedicated company, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH, based in Wels, Austria. The newly formed subsidiary, led by Managing Director Andreas Steinbüchler, will produce and market organic fertilizers made from insect frass for the Central European market. Market entry is planned for fall 2026, starting with fertilizer sticks for potted plants, followed by lawn and agricultural fertilizers.
The spin-off positions REPLOID to capitalize on structural pressures in Europe's fertilizer market, including heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulation, and increasingly degraded soils. Organic fertilizers complement mineral ones by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and making soils more resilient to drought stress. REPLOID REGREEN aims to meet rising demand for locally produced, circular solutions in agriculture and horticulture.
Andreas Steinbüchler, Managing Director of REPLOID REGREEN, brings more than 25 years of industry experience, including serving as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe's second-largest fertilizer producer, from 2018 to 2023. He also served as President of the Fertilizers Europe association from 2021 to 2023. “Europe imports fertilizer while its soils are being depleted. Neither is a viable option in the long run,” Steinbüchler said. “With REGREEN, we are deliberately building what has been missing: a regionally produced organic fertilizer that makes soils more fertile over the long term.”
The REGREEN products will be made from insect frass sourced from REPLOID's own ReFarmUnits. Insect frass is a nutrient-rich by-product generated when Black Soldier Fly larvae process organic residues from the food industry. This approach aligns with the circular economy, turning waste into valuable inputs for agriculture.
Philip Pauer, CEO and Founder of REPLOID Group AG, emphasized the strategic importance: “With REGREEN, we are giving our fertilizer business its own, effective structure and, in Andreas Steinbüchler, a leader with many years of industry experience. This underscores that the fertilizer segment is a strategic growth pillar for us, with enormous scaling potential.”
REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Wels, Austria, offers an innovative system for the industrial utilization of regional organic residues. The company builds and services modular insect-rearing plants (ReFarmUnits) for customers, using Black Soldier Fly larvae to process food industry residues. REPLOID sells the larvae or processes them into proteins and fats for animal feed, while the insect frass is turned into premium organic fertilizer. The company has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange’s direct market plus segment since July 2025 (ticker symbol: HRX5) and employs more than 190 people.
The fertilizer market entry represents a significant step for REPLOID, which sees its fertilizer segment as a strategic growth pillar with enormous scaling potential. For more information, visit www.regreen.co or the original release at www.newmediawire.com.
