The Russell Ferber Foundation will host its milestone 20th annual Comedy FUNdraiser, bringing together prominent comedians and community supporters to raise funds for culinary education and learning support programs. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Village Community School in New York City, represents a significant milestone in the foundation's ongoing mission to honor Russell Ferber's memory and support aspiring culinary professionals.
Founded in 2003 after Russell Ferber's tragic death at age 21, just days after completing his Baking and Pastry Arts degree, the foundation has dedicated itself to providing educational opportunities for young people passionate about culinary arts. The organization has developed strategic partnerships with Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) and the Culinary Institute of America to create meaningful scholarship and mentorship opportunities.
This year's comedy lineup features notable performers including Jordan Carlos from The Nightly Show, Greg Wilson from Comedy Central, and Janeane Garofalo, known for her work on Saturday Night Live and various film comedies. The event will not only provide an evening of entertainment but also directly support the foundation's critical educational initiatives.
The fundraiser goes beyond comedy, serving as a platform to support inner-city high school students seeking culinary training and providing educational resources for students with learning differences. By funding a fully endowed scholarship at the Culinary Institute of America and contributing to the Village Community School's Russell Ferber Memorial Fund, the foundation demonstrates a comprehensive approach to educational support.
Sponsored by Grandaisy Bakery and Jeremy's Ale House, the event promises an engaging evening that combines humor, community support, and a commitment to honoring Russell Ferber's legacy. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet scholarship recipients and sample culinary creations, highlighting the tangible impact of the foundation's work.
With doors opening at 6:30 PM and the comedy show beginning at 8:00 PM, the event represents more than just a fundraiser—it is a testament to the power of community, education, and transformative support for young professionals pursuing their culinary dreams.
