Shelly Group Introduces World's First Smart Miniature Circuit Breakers, Targeting $5.8B Market by 2033

Shelly Group SE is accelerating its expansion into the professional building and energy management market with the introduction of the world's first smart miniature circuit breakers in a compact 1M form factor, presented at IFA 2025. This innovation combines maximum electrical safety with advanced smart control, enabling real-time monitoring capabilities that detect anomalies in energy consumption, unusual usage patterns, overconsumption, or malfunctions in connected appliances.

The new Shelly Smart Miniature Circuit Breakers are available with B- and C-trip characteristics, 1P+N poles, and rated currents ranging from 6A to 25A. For communication, two modern options are available: Z-Wave LR and Bluetooth combined with Zigbee, providing a high level of safety alongside broad connectivity for professional electrical installations and building automation. In critical events like fire or flooding, the system enables remote power disconnection per branch, minimizing risk and damage.

Beyond the miniature breakers, Shelly is expanding its portfolio with a comprehensive line of professional smart circuit breakers ranging from 1- to 4-pole devices supporting currents from 10A to 63A. These devices are available in compact DIN-rail form factors (2M for 1-pole, 3M for 2-pole, 4M for 3-pole, and 5M for 4-pole versions) and feature integrated Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity for maximum flexibility and seamless integration. Designed for standard residential and industrial applications at 230 V AC and 400 V AC, these breakers ensure reliable performance across diverse use cases.

According to market research firm Market Research Intellect, the global smart circuit breaker market is estimated at approximately $2.5 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of about 10.5% to exceed $5.8 billion by 2033. Key growth drivers include rising demand for energy efficiency and safety, increasing integration of smart grids and renewable energy, broader adoption of smart homes and intelligent buildings, technological advancements in IoT and artificial intelligence, and stricter regulatory requirements for energy savings and electrical safety.

Wolfgang Kirsch, Co-CEO of Shelly Group, stated that this development represents a major step in opening up the professional building and energy management market while combining maximum safety with smart control to create significant customer value. The development of Shelly Smart Miniature Circuit Breakers has been completed, with certification by DEKRA beginning at the end of September and expected to take approximately two months, followed by certification from VDE. Mass production is scheduled to begin immediately after certification completion, with market launch planned for early 2026.
